Poet Laureate Legacy Project -- City of St. John's

In the fall of 2009, Running the Goat Press printed a limited-edition, bilingual chapbook featuring work by St. John's Poet Laureate Agnes Walsh. The poems, all previously published, grew out of the relationship between the fishermen of the Portuguese White Fleet and St. John's, and out of Walsh's great love for the Portuguese language and culture, a result of the friendships forged with those visiting fishermen. Poet paulo da costa translated the poetry into Portuguese. The chapbook featured a corkskin cover.

In which I Realize I Meant To Clean Up My Brother's House As A Nice Surprise For When He Came Back From His Camp And That I Have Left It A Bit Late

Colleen Thibaudeau

This concertina book about a very messy house was made as part of a workshop at Barbarian Press in Mission, BC. The content and the style of the poem dictated the structure and typography of the book--pages that spilled out, and a jumble of various typefaces. It was printed, in a very limited run, on an Albion iron handpress.
